Capitol Chamber Adopts Resolution Supporting Bond Election on May 13th

Capitol Chamber Board of Directors adopted resolution supporting passage of the five bonds on the ballot on May 13th.  The most important of the five bonds is a $55 million bond to acquire the General Motors Facility. The acquisition would help insure the long term future of Tinker Air Force Base. Tinker officials will use the facility to crate the Tinker Aerospace Complex, which will host some of the current and future depot maintenance at the base.

Tinker is the largest single-site employer in Oklahoma, with over 27,000 workers and an annual economic impact for the state of $3.4 billion. Many of the residents in Northeast Oklahoma City work at Tinker and several NE Oklahoma City businesses have contracts with the base.

In addition to the $55 million needed to acquire the former GM facility for Tinker, this County bond issue will also include four other propositions that would address flood control issues in the County, and construction and maintenance of County facilities. The total amount of all five bond issues is $84.5 million .Click here to view resolution
